 General Help
 Revisions for Version 2.00

*** [General Help] ***
 Along the top border of the main program screen (Channel Information) are
the "drop down" menus.
 Press [ALT] and use the arrow keys --> <-- to select a program section.
 Help is available for each menu by pressing the F1 key.
 Pressing F1 will load its Help screen.
 To get familiar with the computer key functions used in the KPG-34D,press 
[ALT] now; select Keyboard Help; press [ENTER].
 Within a Help screen use the cursor up/down keys to scroll, F5 to print a
hard copy, and [ESC] or [ALT] to escape the screen.
 Refer to the KPG-34D Instruction Manual for additional Help.

**Basic use instructions (use F1 for Help in each program section below)**

A. [CREATING PROGRAMMING DATA FOR A RADIO]
  1. Read data from the pre-programmed Radio, hard disk, or floppy disk.
  2. Open the "Edit-Key Assignment" menu; and select "Key Assignment".
     Assign functions to each key on the panel.
  3. Open the "Edit-Optional Feature" menu;
     Set the general built-in features.
  4. Hit ESC; the cursor will move to the main screen, "Channel Information
    Screen".

B. [Test Mode]
     Open the "Program-Test mode" menu;
     Connect the radio to measure equipment correctly.
     Please use Tuning Cable (service parts) for mainly deviation tune.
     Test a radio and set specific radio adjustments.

C. [PROGRAM A RADIO]
  1. Open the "Program" menu.
  2. Select "Write to Radio".

D. [SAVE PROGRAMMING DATA TO DISK FILE]
  1. Open the "File" menu.
  2. Select "Save" for quick save to the "default" or "current" filename, or
    "Save As" to name or rename the file.

 Keyboard Help
*** [ Computer Keyboard Help ] ***
 Available key functions are displayed at the bottom and top of the screen.

 ESC            : Returns to the main screen; called the Channel Information
                 Screen. (exits menus & sub-screens).
 ALT            : "Go to menu" or "Go back" to previous screen.
 Arrow Keys     : Moves cursor within a data input field; scrolls Help
                 screens.
 PgUp & PgDn    : Pages up/down in General or Keyboard Help screens.
 F1  	      	: Opens a Help screen.
 F2	       		: Toggles yes/no feature selections or increases selection
                 in data fields. (same as [SPACE BAR])
 F3             : Exits form this program and return to the DOS prompt.
 F4             : Saves the current program data with the current file name.
 F5             : Prints the current data, Tuning data or Help screen.
 Shift+F2       : Opposite function as the [F2].
 Shift+F3       : Copies an entire channel to another group.
 HOME           : Jumps to channel 1 of the Channel screen, or page 1 of
                 a help screen.
 END            : Jumps to the last channel(Ch4) of the Channel screen.
                  Or to the last page of a help screen. 
 ENTER          : Enters data into a program field, or opens a selected
                 window.
 SPACE BAR      : Toggles yes/no feature selections, increases selection in
                 data files, or clears data, (same as [F2])TX and RX
                 control while in the Test Mode.
 Shift+SPACE BAR: Opposite function of the [SPACE BAR]. 

 New File Help (CLEAR FILE)
 The New function clears any currently loaded, read or created data 
file. 
 All program data screens will be set to defaults.

 Load Help
 The Load function is used to retrieve a stored data file from a 
hard disk or floppy disk to be modified, viewed, written 
(program a radio) or printed out.
 A directory of stored files, sorted alphabetically, will be 
displayed for selection.

 Save Help
 Saves the current program data with current file name. 

 Save As Help
 Saves with the option of assigning a "new" file name, or renaming an 
existing file.

 Delete Help
 The Delete function is used to remove any stored data files from the 
directory of stored files.

 Print Help
  Prints all radio programming data currently loaded into the program:
     - Model Name
     - File Name
     - Key Assignment
     - Optional Feature
     - Channel Information

 Go to Dos Help
 Go back to the DOS prompt temporarily.
 Type EXIT and press [ENTER] to quite the DOS prompt and return to the
KPG-34D program.

 Note: The KPG-34D program can support this command only if your
      computer has sufficient memory.

 Exit Help
 Quits this program and returns to the DOS prompt.

 TK-361 Help
 UHF Radio.

 TK-261 Help
 VHF Radio.

 MONI Key Help
 The MONI Key can be programmed for one of four functions; 
Monitor Momentary, Monitor Lock, SQ Off Momentary or Off.

 Off              : Disables MONI Key function.
 Monitor Momentary: Carrier Squelch function while pressing the key.
 Monitor Lock     : Toggles between Carrier Squelch/Tone Squelch
                   function.
 SQ Off Momentary : Unmute function while pressing the key.
 Default          : SQ Off Momentary.

 Press the [F2] or [SPACE BAR] to alternate selection.

 Time Out Timer Help
 Time Out Timer sets the maximum period of time a user is allowed to 
continuously transmit at any one instance.
 Upon time out the radios transmitter is automatically disabled until
the PTT is released.

 Range  : Off/30 to 300 s (30 s steps)
 Default: 60 s

 Press the [F2] or [SPACE BAR] to increase selection.
 Otherwise enter required duration directly.

 TOT Pre-Alert Help
 The TOT Pre-Alert function notifies the programmed time is expired.
 This should be set less than TOT value.

 Range  : Off/5 to 250 s (5 s steps)
 Default: 55

 Press the [F2] or [SPACE BAR] to increase selection.
 Otherwise enter required duration directly.

 TOT Rekey Time Help
 TOT Rekey-Time sets the "penalty" time in which the radio cannot be 
re-keyed for transmit after the Time Out Timer setting is exceeded.

 Range  : Off/1 to 60 s (1 s steps)
 Default: Off.

 Press the [F2] or [SPACE BAR] to increase selection.
 Otherwise enter required duration directly.

 TOT Reset Time Help
 TOT Reset Time sets the minimum "wait" time allowed between 
transmissions that will reset the Time Out Timer.
 When set this causes the TOT continue even after PTT is released 
unless the TOT Reset Timer has expired.

 Range  : Off/1 to 15 s (1 s steps)
 Default: Off.

 Press the [F2] or [SPACE BAR] to increase selection.
 Otherwise enter required duration directly.

 Squelch Level Help
 Squelch is an analog reference level number that the radio's
CPU uses to set the internal squelch threshold.
 This should be adjusted only when performing alignment using proper
test equipment (see the service manual "Alignment" section).

 Range 	: 0(Open) to 9(Tight)
 Default	: 5

 Press the [F2] or [SPACE BAR] to increase selection.
 Otherwise enter required duration directly.

 Frequency Help
 Press the [F2] to open the Frequency list.
 Select the Frequency.

 QT/DQT Select No Help
 Type the required 1 to 9 QT/DQT Number directly.

 QT : 67.0 to 250.3Hz (in 0.1Hz steps)
 DQT: codes 000 to 777
      enter D###N (normal)
            D###I (inverted)
 -or-
 Press the [F2] to open the QT/DQT list,
 QT : 67.0 to 250.3Hz
 DQT: codes 023 to 754 
then select.

 Type the required tone or code directly.

 Channel Copy Help
 Copies the entire channel data to another channel(s).

 Use SHIFT + F3 to copy a channel.

 Read from Radio Help
 Read all program data from the radio.

 -- select & press [ENTER].

 Write to Radio Help
 Write all currently loaded program data into the radio's EEPROM 
memory.
 Verify that the Model Name in the current data matches that of the 
target radio you are about to program.

 -- select & press [ENTER].

 Test Mode Frequency Help
 Press the up/down arrow keys to change test channels available in 
the radio. 

 Test Mode Signalling Help
 Press the up/down arrow keys to change signalling channels 
available in the radio. 

 RF High Power
 Preset RF High Power level adjustment.

 Press <- or -> to increase/decrease selection.

 RF Low Power
 Preset RF Low Power level adjustment.

 Press <- or -> to increase/decrease selection.

 Battery
 Preset Battery level adjustment.
 This function alerts when battery voltage is not sufficient to
 operate.
 1. Connect the radio to the external power supply.
 2. Set the voltage of external power supply to desired value.
	(Normal value is 6.0V D.C. = factory presetting)
 3. Enter to PC Tuning - Battery screen.
 4. Adjust the indicator using arrow key until red LED on the radio
   starts to flash.
	Refer radio's service manual.

 Press <- or -> to increase/decrease selection.

 Squelch (Tight)
 Preset Squelch (Tight) level adjustment.

 Press <- or -> to increase/decrease selection.

 Squelch (Open)
 Preset Squelch (Open) level adjustment.

 Press <- or -> to increase/decrease selection.

 QT Deviation
 Preset QT Deviation level adjustment.
 The radio generates selected QT.
 If QT is not selectedthe radio generates 67.0Hz QT automatically.

 Press <- or -> to increase/decrease selection.

 DQT Deviation
 Preset DQT Deviation level adjustment.
 The radio generates D023N automatically.

 Press <- or -> to increase/decrease selection.

 Print Tuning Data Help
 Print out currently memorized Tuning Data.

 Communication Port Help
 Select the COM level of the computer's serial communication port
for programming.

 There are two choices, COM1 or COM2.
 COM level settings in your computer may be dependent on internal 
hardware and/or setup software settings; check your computer manuals 
for details.

 Press the [F2], [SPACE BAR] to alternate selection.

 Black & White Help
 Monochrome display mode.
 
 Display Back Color Help
 Main window's background color.

 Press the [F2] or [SPACE BAR] to alternate selection.

 Input Data Color Help
 Input data cursor color.

 Press the [F2] or [SPACE BAR] to alternate selection.

 Feature Highlight Color Help
 Sub window's selected feature cursor background color.

 Press the [F2] or [SPACE BAR] to alternate selection.

 Screen Border Information Color Help
 Outside of main window's border information background color.

 Press the [F2] or [SPACE BAR] to alternate selection.

 Windows Menu Color Help
 Main menu bar sub window's background color.

 Press the [F2] or [SPACE BAR] to alternate selection.

 General Message Color Help
 Important information window's background color.

 Press the [F2] or [SPACE BAR] to alternate selection.

 Windows Color Help
