 General Help
	*** [ General Help ] ***
 Along the top border of the main program screen (System Info. or Merge) are
 the "drop down" menus (press ALT; use the cursor keys --> <-- to  select
 a program section. Help is available for each menu by pressing the F1
 function key. Pressing F1 while in the System Info. or Merge screen will
 load its Help screen. To get familiar with the computer key functions used
 in the KPG-25D, press ALT now; select Keyboard Help; press ENTER. Within
 a Help  screen use cursor up/down to scroll, F5 to print a hard copy, and
 ESC or ALT to escape the screen. Refer to the KPG-25D Instruction Manual
 for additional help. 

**Basic Use Instructions (use F1 for Help in each program section below)*

A. [CREATING PROGRAMMING DATA FOR A RADIO]
  1. Open the "MODEL" menu and select the appropriate model type.
  2. Open the "EDIT-Test Frequency" menu and enter 16 frequencies. These are
   used in the tuning mode. (Hint: use ALT to return to the EDIT menu.)
  3. Open the "EDIT-Feature Option" menu; set the general built-in features.
  4. Open the "PROGRAM-Test mode" menu; set specific radio adjustments.
  5. Hit ESC; the cursor will move the main screen, "SYSTEM INFORMATION or
   SYSTEM MERGE".
B. [PROGRAM A RADIO]
  1.  Open the "PROGRAM" menu.
  2.  Select "Write to radio".
C. [SAVE PROGRAMMING DATA TO DISK FILE]
  1. Open the "FILE" menu.
  2. Select "SAVE" for quick save to the "default" or "current" filename.
     or "SAVE AS" to name or rename the file..

 Keyboard Help

 Available key functions are displayed at the bottom of the screen.

 ESC: returns to the main screen; System Information or System Merge
      (exits menus & sub-screens).
 ALT: "Go to Menu" or "Go back" to previous screen.
 Arrow Keys: moves cursor within a data input field;
              scrolls help screens.
 PgUp & PgDn:  pages up/down Group & Help screens.
 F1: Opens a Help screen.
  ( F2: through F10: Selects labeled functions displayed at the bottom of
   the screen.)
 F2: Toggles Yes/No feature selection or increments selection in data
     fields.
 F3: Exit from this program and returns to the DOS PROMPT.
 F4: Saves the current program data with current file name.
 F5: Prints the current data or Help screen.
 F6: Change Repeater Information.
 F7: Next System
 F8: Previous System
 F9: Change System data
 F10: Selects Fixed revert system
 Shift+F2: Opposite function as the F2 key.
 Shift+F3: Copies an entire group to another group.
 Shift+F7: Cursor will jump to another group.
 HOME: Jumps to group 1 of the System Info. screen, or to page 1 of
       a help screen.
 END: Jumps to the last group in the System Info. screen, or to the last
      page of a help screen.
 ENTER: Enters data into a program field, or opens a selection window.
 SPACE BAR: Toggles Yes/No selections.  Increments selections or DATA clear.
            (same as F2)
	    TX and RX control while the Test and Tuning mode.
 Shift+SPACE BAR: Opposite function as the SPACE BAR.

 New File Help (CLEAR FILE)
The NEW function clears any currently
loaded, read or created data file.
All program data screens will be set
to defaults.

 Load Help
The LOAD function is used to retrieve
a stored data file from a hard disk or
floppy disk to be modified, viewed,
written (program a radio) or printed
out. A directory of stored files,
sorted alphabetically, will be
displayed for selection.

 Save Help
Saves the current program data with
current file name. 

 Save As Help
Saves with the option of assigning a
"new" file name, or renaming an 
existing file.

 Delete Help
The DELETE function is used to remove
any stored data files from the 
directory of stored files.

 Print Help
Prints all radio programming data 
currently loaded into the program:
    - Model Type 
    - File Name
    - Embedded Message
    - Feature Option
    - Test Frequency
    - System Information
    - Test Mode

 Go to Dos Help
Go back to the DOS prompt
temporarily.
Type EXIT and press ENTER to quit the
DOS prompt and return to the KPG-25D.

Note: The KPG-25D program can support
this command only if your computer has
sufficient memory.

 Exit Help
Quits this program and returns to the 
DOS PROMPT.

 Test Frequency Help
The radio can be programmed with test
frequencies for alignment purposes.
Enter the required FCC number
or frequency directly.

 Time Out Timer(Dispatch) Help
Microprocessor controlled to limit
lengthy transmissions in the 
normal (dispatch) mode.

TX time out can be set from 15 to
600 seconds in 15 sec. steps.
default: 60 sec.

 Time Out Timer(Telephone) Help

Telephone mode.

 Transpond Delay Time Help
The Transpond Delay Time is the delay
from decode of a transpond enabled ID
to the beginning of transpond
transmission.

Transpond Delay time can be
set from 0 to 254 seconds in 1 sec.

default: 3 sec.
If you attempt to set this time to
greater than the Drop out delay time,
transpond will be set the same as the
drop out delay time.

 TX Inhibit Time Help
TX inhibit time is the TX inhibit
period after inhibited ID is detected.
TX inhibit time can be set from 0.5
to 8 seconds in 0.5 sec.

 Aux. Switch Help
Toggles the following functions on and
off.

1). N/A: No function.
2). Option Sig.: Option Signalling
    Board reset switch.
3). Manual Relay: Auxiliary output
    signal ON/OFF.
4). Horn Alert: Horn Alert ON/OFF.
5). Telephone search: Automatically
    searches for a vacant Telephone
    channel.(trunked system)
6). ALP/Sys.Grp.: Toggle display
    between Alphanumeric or the
    System & Group number.
7). Fixed Call: Reset radio to a
    preprog. System & Group.
8). Del/Add: Provides user system
    Del/Add button.

 Scan Switch Help
Scan switch function and scan type
selections.

N/A:             Disables scan switch

Revert System is the programmable

 Free System Ring Back Help
This feature is only active during
Telephone use.
The radio will "beep" when the
telephone interconnect line is not
busy.

Yes:   Enable ring back.

 Clear To Talk Beep Help
Upon successful access of a trunked
system this beep tone sounds to alert
the user they can begin speaking.

Yes:   Enable clear to talk beep.
No:    Disable clear to talk beep.

 System search Help
While a selected system is busy
(the radio sounds an intercept tone)
then release the PTT key, the radio
will start to search for an available
system automatically or manually.

None:    Disable system search.
Auto:    During the intercept tone
         keep the PTT key held down
         and press the SCAN key.
         Upon release of the SCAN
         key, system search begins.
Manual:  During intercept tone
         releasing the PTT will
         initiate auto system search.

 Display Character Help
Select the display character Group
name (Alphanumeric) or System &
Group number. If you select the AUX
switch as Display character, this
selection will be just as a default.

Sys Grp:   Set the Display character
           as System & Group number.
Grp Name:  Set the Display character
           as alphanumeric.
           (pre-programming necessary)

 Minimum Volume Help
The minimum volume is the level which
will be set automatically every time
you turn on the radio. If you adjust
the volume control below this level
before the radio is turned off, the
volume level will return to the
programmed minimum level when the
radio is powered up again. If the
volume level is raised higher than the
minimum level during use, it will
return to this higher level at power
off, then on again.

Minimum Volume can be set
from level 0 to level 31.
default: level 8.

 Off Hook Scan Help
The radio is able to scan even though
the mic is in the off hook condition.

Enable:   Scan start & stop is
          independent of the mic
          hook sw.
Disable:  Mic must be on hook for
          scanning to start.

 Off Hook Horn Help
Horn alert is auto disabled when the
microphone goes off hook.

Enable:  Off hook auto disable.
Disable: Manual disable only.

 Off Hook Decode Help
The radio is still tone squelched even
though the mic is in the off hook
condition
(valid for QT, DQT and Option
Signalling board decode).
Note: This feature is available only
for a conventional system.

Enable:  Decode signalling active even
         in the off hook condition.
Disable: Decode signalling is disabled
         during off hook.

 Access Logic Signal Help
This logic signal is useful for
external radio control unit (i.e.
Mobile Data Terminal, Computer Aided
Dispatch or Over The Air
Re-Programming etc.) that require a
signal at the time of successful
trunked repeater access.
This can be set for a "Continuous" or
"Single pulse" type signal.

Continuous:   Logic level high during
              length of access.
Sngl. Pulse:  Logic level high pulse
              at the time of a
              successful handshake.

 Horn Alert Logic Signal Help
The H/A logic can be used to drive
a vehicle horn relay, light or other
device. The logic level signal
can be set for a continuous (EX:
light) or monetary pulse output
(EX: vehicle horn relay).

Continuous:   Continuous logic level
              low output until reset.
Pulse:        Momentary logic level
              low output.

 Alert Help
(for sel. call options installed)
Reception of the a selective call code
activates an alert tone function.

Enable:     Enables alert tone. 
Disable:    Disables alert tone.

 Transpond Help
(for sel. call options installed)
Reception of the a selective call code
activates a transpond function with
tone acknowledge.

Enable:     Enable transpond with
            acknowledge tone.

 Dead Beat Disable Help
(for sel. call options installed)
Some Option signalling boards have a
Dead Beat Disable code.  The code
is programmable.
Reception of this code activates the
transpond function then places the
radio into a Dead Beat Disable mode.
While in the D.B.D. mode, the radio
ignores a transmit or transmit/receive
requests.
Reception of the reset code will
reset this function.

TX/RX Disable: Disable TX/RX during
               D.B.D. mode. 
TX Disable:    Disable TX during
               D.B.D. mode.

 Auto Reset Timer Help
(for sel. call options installed)
After decoding the selective call
signal, the radio will remain in the
unmuted status (depends also on
decoding of preprogrammed ID, QT/DQT
signalling or carrier). After a the
Reset Time expires the sel. call
option will reset automatically.

Enable:     Enable the Auto Reset
            function after selective
            call detection. 
Disable:    Disable Auto Reset
            function.

 Reset Timer Help
This parameter controls the Auto
Reset Timer.
Auto Reset function must be Enable.

Reset Time can be set
from 0 to 254 seconds in 1 sec.

 Dealer Mode Help
Enable or disable the Dealer mode
function.(see S/M for details)

Enable:     Enables Dealer Mode.

Enable or disable the Self Tuning mode

Enable or disable the Main Programming
function.
This data is for factory use only.
Select DISABLE before delivering the
radio to the end user to avoid
unintentional changes of the RADIO'S
OPERATING SYSTEM.(see S/M for details)

            Mode.
Disable:    Disables Main Programming
            Mode. (Recommended Mode)

 Clone Mode Help
Enable or disable the Clone function.
(see S/M for details)

Enable:     Enables Clone Mode.
Disable:    Disables Clone Mode.

 System Merge Help
This MENU allows you to CREATE the
SOURCE FILE and to MERGE a system.
The menu contains two different
functions;
"Creating a source file" and "Making a
programming data file (system merge)".
Alternate between functions by using
the [Tab] key.

System merge is a convenience feature
when you are making a data file. It is
easy to copy system data from the
source file to the data file.

a) Creating a source file from a
   programming data file.
   The source file has a maximum of 20
   systems. Copy each system
   into the source file. Each system
   has a "SYSTEM NAME" which is used
   during system copy (merge). Enter
   the SYSTEM NAME into each SYSTEM.

1. Change the arrow destination to the
   right by using the [Tab] key.
2. Select a target system to
   which you want to copy by using the
   up/down arrow keys.
3. Type the system number that you
   want to copy from the data file.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 if required.
5. Press the F7 function key to open
   the confirmation window.
6. Select "OK" to proceed to copy, or
   select "Cancel" to cancel the copy.

b) Making a programming data file
   Copy a system from the SOURCE FILE
   to a target file.

1. Change the destination of the arrow
   to the left by using the [Tab] key.
2. Select a target system to which you
   want to copy.
3. Type the system number that you
   want to copy from the source file.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 as required.
5. Press the F7 function key to open
   the confirmation window.
6. Select "OK" to proceed to copy, or
   select "Cancel" to cancel copying.

NOTE: This procedure is used only to
      copy a system to the target
      file.
      Feature option data will not be
      copied. Select them before you
      write programming data to the
      radio.

 System Information Help
Select Trunking or Conventional format
for each system.

1. Select one of 32 systems by the
   cursor.
2. Move the cursor to the desired
   system and each time press the [F2]
   or [space] key to select Trunking,
   Conventional or Not used.
3. Whether you select Trunking or
   Conventional, it is recommended
   that the SYSTEM NAME is entered for
   each system. The System Name will
   help you when you copy a system
   between the data file and source
   file during a system merge.
4. Enter or select data for each
   function.

This screen displays only SYSTEM
FORMAT, SYSTEM NAME and SYSTEM
LOCKOUT for each system.

 Embedded Message Help
Up to 64 alphanumeric characters can
be programmed into the radio. This
can be used for an electronic serial
number, program file name notation,
property ID., etc..
It will appear as part of the header
statement on a program data printout
along with the model type and
filename.

Type the required message directly.

 System Name Help
(Trunking)
Enter up to 8 alphanumeric characters,
if required.
A System Name is a useful feature
during a system merge.

Type the required name directly.

 System Lockout Help
(Trunking)
Yes: Delete the System from the SYSTEM
     SCAN map.
No:  Add the System into the SYSTEM
     SCAN map.

Press the F2 key or SPACE BAR to
alternate selection.

 Scan List Help
(Trunking)
Yes: Allows you to select systems to
     be scanned.  Press the F10 key to
     enter the system scan list menu.
     use the F2 key or Space Bar to
     Enable/Disable systems in the
     scan list.
No:  Select regular System Scan.

Press the F2 key or SPACE BAR to
alternate selection.

 Scan Weight Help
(Trunking)
If a carrier is present on the (home)
channel, Scan Weight is the maximum
time to receiver waits on the channel
to check the ID.

The range is from 1 to 8, in 1 step
increment. One step is approximately
500 ms.

Press <- or -> to increment selection.
Otherwise, type the required number
directly.

 Auto Telephone Search Help
(Trunking)
Select the Telephone search activity
for each system. This automatically
searches for an LTR(TM) vacant
Telephone channel.

Yes: Enables automatic Telephone
     search for this system.
No:  Disables automatic Telephone
     search for this system.
     (Manual Telephone search is
     selected.)

Press the F2 key or SPACE BAR to
alternate selection.

 TA Busy Channel Lockout Help
(Trunking)
Select the Busy Channel Lockout
activity for Talkaround channel.

Yes: Enable the busy channel lockout
     function.
No:  Disable the busy channel lockout
     function.

Press the F2 key or SPACE BAR to
alternate selection.

 Fixed ID Help
(Trunking)
Fixed receive ID.
1st and 2nd IDs can be
programmed into each system. The radio
decodes these IDs individually while
receiving the system.
1st : First priority receive ID.
2nd : Second priority receive ID.

Fixed ID can be selected
from 1 to 250.

Type the required ID data directly.

 Fixed ID Call Indicator Help
(Trunking)
Enables a CALL INDICATOR for
the 1st and/or 2nd fixed IDs.

Press the F2 key or SPACE BAR to
alternate selection.

 Fixed Horn Help
(Trunking)
Enables a Horn Alert for
the 1st and/or 2nd fixed IDs.

Press the F2 key or SPACE BAR to
alternate selection.

Yes: Call LCD will flash after
     ID decode.
     In addition, it will illuminate
     whenever the Fixed ID matches,
     however it depends on the status
     of the Fixed Call information.
No:  Call LCD does not flash even
     though the ID decode.

Enables a HORN ALERT function
for each group.
