 New File Help (CLEAR FILE)
This function clears all data currently shown in the Information 
window and restores the defaults.

1. Select "New" then press [Enter], or simply press [N].  A warning 
   message appears.
2. Select "[Ok]" or "[Cancel]" then press [Enter], or simply press 
   [O] or [C].


 Load Help
The Load function reads a data file saved on a hard disk or floppy 
disk, then writes the file into the buffer memory of your computer.  
You may change the loaded file, write it to the transceiver, or print 
it out.

1. With the File menu open, select "Load" then press [Enter], or 
   simply press [L].  The "Drive & Path" window opens, and displays 
   the currently selected drive and path name.
2. Type the drive and path name of the desired file, then press 
   [Enter].  The "Directory" window opens and displays the name(s) of 
   the file(s) on that path.  Data files have "DAT" extensions. 

If the entered drive does not contain a disk, an error message 
appears.  Press any key, insert the correct disk in the specified 
drive, then press [Enter].

If the entered drive or path does not exist, an error message appears.  
Press any key, correct the drive or path name, then press [Enter].

If no file is found under the drive and path name, an error message 
appears.  Press any key, correct the drive and path names, then press 
[Enter].

3. Select the desired file name, then press [Enter].  The "Load file 
   name" window opens.
4. Select "[Ok]" or "[Cancel]" then press [Enter], or simply press 
   [O] or [C].


 Save Help
The Save function saves the created or revised file to the drive, 
path, and file names previously selected (or default).

1. With the File menu open, select "Save(=F4)" then press [Enter], or 
   simply press [S] or [F4]. If the same file name exists under the 
   current path, a warning message appears.  If the same file name 
   does not exist under the current path, the "Save file name" window 
   opens.
2. Select "[Ok]" or "[Cancel]" then press [Enter], or simply press 
   [O] or [C].


 Save as Help
The save As function saves the current file to the drive, path, and 
file names that you specify.

1. With the File menu open, select "save As" then press [Enter], or 
   simply press [A].  The "Drive & Path" window opens and displays 
   the currently selected drive and path names.
2. Type the desired drive and path names, then press [Enter].  The 
   "Save file name" window opens.

If the entered drive does not contain a disk, an error message 
appears.  Press any key, insert the correct disk in the specified 
drive, then press [Enter].

If the entered drive or path does not exist, an error message appears.  
Press any key, correct the entered drive or path name, then press 
[Enter].

3. Type the desired file name, then press [Enter].If the same file
   name exists under the specified path, a warning message appears. 
   If the same file name does not exist under the specified path, 
   the "Save file name" window opens.

If you prefer, press [F9] to open the "Directory" window.  Select the 
desired file name, then press [Enter] twice.

4. Select "[Ok]" or "[Cancel]" then press [Enter], or simply press 
   [O] or [C].


 Delete Help
The Delete function allows you to delete unnecessary files from the 
desired disk thereby freeing up disk space.

1. With the File menu open, select "Delete" then press [Enter], or 
   simply press [D].  The "Drive & Path" window opens and shows the 
   currently selected drive and path name.
2. Type the desired drive and path name, then press [Enter].  The 
   "Directory" window opens.

If the entered drive does not contain a disk, an error message 
appears.  Press any key, insert the correct disk in the specified 
drive, then press [Enter].

If the entered drive or path does not exist, an error message appears.  
Press any key, correct the drive or path name, then press [Enter].

If no file exists under the drive and path name, an error message 
appears.  Press any key, correct the drive and path names, then press 
[Enter].
 
3. Select a file name using the up- or down-arrow key, then press 
   [Enter].  The "Delete file name" window opens.
4. Select "[Ok]" or "[Cancel]" then press [Enter], or simply press 
   [O]  or [C] .  After erasing the last file in the current directory, 
   the System Information window opens; otherwise the "Directory"
   window opens again.
5. Repeat step 3 and 4 to delete all unnecessary files.


 Print Help
The Print function directs data to the printer.  The data may have 
been created, loaded from a disk, or read from the transceiver.  The 
information that you can print includes the following:

* File name
* Model name
* Key assignment
* Scan information
* Optional features
* 2-Tone
* DTMF
* Embedded message
* Group information 

1. With the File menu open, select "Print(=F5)" then press [Enter], 
   or simply press [P].  The "Print out list" window opens.
2. Press the up- or down-arrow key to highlight the setting to be 
   changed.
3. Press [SPACE BAR] or [F2] to select "[Yes]" for printing or "No" 
   for canceling the print operation.
4. Highlight the group numbers at the bottom of the window.  Type 
   the desired starting group, then press [Enter].  Type the desired 
   ending system, then press [Enter].
5. Press [F5] to open the "Edit data print out" window.
6. Select "[Ok]" or "[Cancel]".  If the printer is not ready, an 
   error message will appear.  Check the printer, then select "[Ok]" 
   or "[Cancel]".


 Go to Dos Help
The "Go to dos" function allows you to temporarily exit the program 
and go back to the DOS prompt.

1. With the File menu open, select "Go to dos" then press [Enter], or 
   simply press [G].  The "Type EXIT to return to FPU" message and 
   the DOS prompt appear.
2. To restore the previous screen, type "exit" then press [Enter].

Note:  The KPG-44D software can support this command only when your 
       computer has sufficient memory.


 Exit Help
The eXit function quits the program completely and restores the DOS 
prompt.

1. With the File menu open, select "eXit (=F3)" then press [Enter], 
   or simply press [X].  The "Return to DOS!" window opens.
2. Select "[Ok]" or "[Cancel]" then press [Enter], or simply press 
   [O] or [C].


 TK-690 Help
Frequency range
 1: 29.7 - 37MHz
 2: 35 - 43MHz
 3: 40 - 50MHz

This VHF(Low Band) transceiver can be programmed with a maximum of
160 channels in various combination of 160 groups.
As an example;
  1 group with 160 channels
  2 groups with 80 channels
  160 groups with 1 channel

1. Press [Enter] at "Model/Radio Type" window, then "ANI Board"
   window opens.
2. If an ANI Board has been installed, select "[Yes]", then all
   windows close and returns to "Channel Information" view. 
   Otherwise select "[No]", then "Voice Scrambler" window opens. 
3. If a Voice Scrambler unit has been installed, select "[Yes]".
   Otherwise select "[No]".
   All windows close and returns to "Channel Information" view.


 TK-790 Help

 2: 136 - 156MHz

This VHF transceiver can be programmed with a maximum of

1. Press [Enter] at "Model/Radio Type" window, then "ANI Board"
   window opens.
2. If an ANI Board has been installed, select "[Yes]", then all
   windows close and returns to "Channel Information" view. 
   Otherwise select "[No]", then "Voice Scrambler" window opens. 
3. If a Voice Scrambler unit has been installed, select "[Yes]".
   Otherwise select "[No]".
   All windows close and returns to "Channel Information" view.

Caution! : Do not program the frequency range from 406.0 to
           406.1MHz because they are reserved for another
           service.

 UP/DOWN Knob Assignment Help
"UP/DOWN Knob" is located at the right side of the Volume Knob.
This knob is programmable.

 [No Function] Help
This function can be programmed for push key.
When you press this key, the transceiver emits the Input Error Tone
(no function is performed).

Note:  If "Optional features/Control Tone" is set to "0", the 
       transceiver does not emit an Input Error Tone.


 [AUX A] Help
AUX A function can be programmed for push key.
If this key is pressed, "A" icon lights on the LCD and PF port which
is programmed as "AUX A" turns to Low level.
If pressed again, the "A" icon goes off and the AUX A port turns to
High level or Open-Collector.
Refer to "Function Port Assignment" in Edit screen.


 [AUX B] Help
AUX B function can be programmed for push key.
If this key is pressed, "B" icon lights on the LCD and PF port which
is programmed as "AUX B" turns to Low level.
If pressed again, the "B" icon goes off and the AUX B port turns to
High level or Open-Collector.
Refer to "Function Port Assignment" in Edit screen.


 [AUX C] Help
AUX C function can be programmed for push key.
If this key is pressed, "C" icon lights on the LCD and PF port which
is programmed as "AUX C" turns to Low level.
If pressed again, the "C" icon goes off and the AUX C port turns to
High level or Open-Collector.
Refer to "Function Port Assignment" in Edit screen.


 [CH1 Direct] Help
If this key is pressed, the channel is switched to Group1-Channel1.


 [CH2 Direct] Help
If this key is pressed, the channel is switched to Group1-Channel2.


 [CH3 Direct] Help
If this key is pressed, the channel is switched to Group1-Channel3.


 [CH4 Direct] Help
If this key is pressed, the channel is switched to Group1-Channel4.


 [CH5 Direct] Help
If this key is pressed, the channel is switched to Group1-Channel5.


 [Channel Down] Help
If this key is pressed once, channel decreases by one step.
If this key is held down for 1sec, channel decreases continuously.


 [Channel Up] Help
If this key is pressed once, channel increases by one step.
If this key is held down for 1sec, channel increases continuously.


 [Channel Name] Help
This key switches the LCD display between Group-Channel number and 
Group-Channel Name.


 [Channel Recall] Help
If this key is pressed in Scan Mode, the channel is switched to
the last called channel, scan stops temporarily and the small
digit display shows "rCL".
If pressed again, the scanning re-starts.


 [Delete/Add] Help
If this key is pressed, the currently displayed channel is switched
between "Delete to the scan map" and "Add to the scan map". 
When Add is set to the channel, "CH ADD" icon lights on the LCD. 
The Add channel is contained in the scan sequence, and Delete channel
is not contained.
If this key is held down for 1sec, the currently displayed group is
switched between "Delete from the scan map" and "Add to the scan
map".
When Add is set to the group, "GR ADD" icon lights on the LCD.
The Add group is contained in the "Multi Group Scan" sequence, and
Delete group is not contained.

Note:  In Scan Mode, [Delete/Add] key works as "Temporary Del/Add"
       function.
       When the transceiver exits from Scan Mode. The channel returns
	   to pre-set "Delete/Add".


 [Dimmer] Help
This key switches the LCD backlight brightness, Panel Switch 
backlight ON/OFF, TX/BUSY LED ON/OFF and DTMF Mic Key Pad
backlight ON/OFF.
They will be switched as follows every [Dimmer] key pressing.

  LCD backlight:          Hi -> Medium -> Low -> OFF -> Hi
  Panel Switch backlight: ON -> ON     -> ON  -> OFF -> ON
  TX/BUSY LED:            ON -> ON     -> ON  -> OFF -> ON
  DTMF Mic Key Pad
               backlight: ON -> ON     -> ON  -> OFF -> ON

Note:  The adjusted brightness and ON/OFF are memorized, and
       the transceiver will be started by adjusted brightness and 
       ON/OFF when turn on the transceiver.


 [Emergency Call] Help
When this key is pressed, the transceiver enters the "Emergency Mode". 
In this mode, the channel is switched to "Emergency Channel"
automatically and starts transmission with Emergency ID Code which
is programmed to ANI Board. The display depends on "Emergency CH
Display" setting. (See Edit/Optional Features/Emergency CH Display)

Note:  Emergency Mode works when ANI Board is installed.


 [Group Down] Help
When this key is pressed once, the group decreases by one step.
If this key is held down for 1sec, the group decreases
continuously.


 [Group Up] Help
When this key is pressed once, the group increases by one step.
If this key is held down for 1sec, the group increases
continuously.


 [HC1(Fixed)] Help
If this key is pressed, the channel is switched to 
"Home Channel".


 [HC2(Toggle)] Help
If this key is pressed once, the channel is switched to 
"Home Channel", and the small digit display shows "HC".
If pressed again, the channel goes back to previous channel
except while scanning.


 [Horn Alert] Help
Horn Alert function can be programmed for push key.
If this key is pressed, the Horn Alert function is activated
and the display shows "HA".
When the transceiver is called from base or other party using
Option Signalling, the accessory ports "HR1" and "HR2" are connected.
If pressed again, the Horn Alert function is canceled and
display returns to normal use mode.
Refer "Off Hook Horn Alert" feature.

Note:  The operator can not activate Horn Alert at the channel
       which has been set as "Option Signalling = OFF".


 [Intercom] Help
Intercom function can be programmed for push key.
If this key is pressed, the Intercom function is activated
and the display shows "INTERCOM".
When you press PTT SW and talk to the microphone which is
connected to "Head1", the voice can be heard from "Head2"
speaker without transmission. Also can speak from "Head2"
microphone to "Head1" speaker.
If pressed again, the Intercom function is canceled and
display returns to normal use mode.

Note:  This function can be programmed for "Dual Head" 
       system only.


 [Mobile Relay Station] Help
Mobile Relay Station function can be programmed for push key.
If this key is pressed, the Mobile Relay Station function is
activated and display shows "REPEATER".
When the "Radio1" receives a carrier with correct QT/DQT, the
"Radio2" transmits its signal. Also the "Radio1" transmits the
signal which is received by "Radio2".
If pressed again, the Mobile Relay Station function is canceled
and display returns to normal use mode.

Note:  This function can be programmed for "Dual Band" 
       system only.


 [Monitor] Help
Monitor function can be programmed for push key.
When this key pressed once, "MON" icon lights and squelch unmutes
if a carrier is present, regardless of the specified Signalling 
(including Option Signalling).
If pressed again, "MON" icon goes off and squelch mutes.

if this key is held down for 2sec, "MON" icon and BUSY LED lights
and squelch unmutes regardless of the existence of a carrier.
If pressed again, "MON" icon and BUSY LED goes off and squelch
mutes.

Note1:  If you press this key while Option Signalling is matched,
        Option Signalling is reset and Monitor is activated.

Note2:  If you press this key while scanning and if a carrier is 
        present, scanning stops at the channel currently being 
        scanned, regardless of the specified Signalling (including
        Option Signalling).

Note3:  Dead Beat Disable mode is not reset by this operation.

Note4:  This key works as "Operator Selectable Priority1,2" when
        "Scan Information/Priority1" is set as "Operator Selectable".
        If this key is pressed three times while [Scan] key is held 
        down, the currently displayed channel is changed to
        "Priority1".
        If this key is pressed twice while [Scan] key is held down,
        the currently displayed channel is changed to "Priority2".


 [Operate Sel Tone] Help
This key switches the pre-set decode QT/DQT and encode QT/DQT to
Operator Selectable Tone pair. 
When this key is pressed, the transceiver enters to "OST Select Mode".
In this mode, the display shows OST No. or OST Name which is 
set to the channel and operator can select one of OST Tone pair
using Knob key. 
If pressed this key again, the displayed OST code is memorized to
the channel, the transceiver exits from the OST Select Mode,
returns to normal Group-Channel display and "OST" icon lights.

Note1:  OST Tone pair No. can be set for each channel.

Note2:  16 kinds of OST Tone pairs can be programmed
        in the Optional Features/Operator Selectable Tone window.

Note3:  While OST Select Mode, the transceiver does not look back the
        priority channel in the scan resume mode.


 [Public Address] Help
Public Address function can be programmed for push key.
If this key is pressed, the Public Address function is activated
and the display shows "PA".
When you press PTT SW and talk to the microphone, the voice can be
heard from external speaker which is connected to the transceiver
without transmission.
If pressed again, the Public Address function is canceled and
display returns to normal use mode.


 [Scan] Help
Scan function can be programmed for push key.
Pressing this key starts/stops scanning. 
If "Scan Information/Revert Channel Display" is set to "No",
the display shows "SCAN". Otherwise the display shows
Channel Name or Channel No. of the Revert Channel.


 [Scrambler] Help
Scrambler function can be programmed for push key.
When this key is pressed once, "OPT" icon lights on the LCD and
the Scrambler is ON.
When pressed again, "OPT" icon goes off and the Scrambler is OFF.
If this key is held down for 2sec, the transceiver enters to
"Scrambler Code Select Mode". The display shows "CODE **", and
the operator can select the Code which is programmed to Scrambler
Board using Up/Down Knob, [Group Up]key, [Group Down]key,
[Channel Up]key and [Channel Down]key.


 [Speaker 1-2 Mute] Help
If this key of the Head1 is pressed, the Head2 speaker is muted
and both head display shows "2 MUTE".
This Head2 muted condition is canceled by all of key operation
except Head1 Mic PTT & HOOK.
Also can mute the Head1 speaker by pressing Head2 [Speaker 1-2
Mute] key.


 [Speaker Int/Ext Mute] Help
This key switches effective speaker between "Internal Speaker"
which is inside of Basic Function Panel or is connected to
Full Function Panel and "External Speaker" which is connected
to the body.
If "External Speaker" is activated, the "SP" icon lights.


 [Squelch Level] Help
When this key is pressed, the transceiver enters to "Squelch Level
Adjustment Mode". The squelch level can be adjusted by Up/Down
Knob, [Group Up] key, [Group Down] key, [Channel Up] key and
[Channel Down] key.
If pressed again, the adjusted level is memorized and returns to
normal use mode.


 [Talk Around] Help
Talk Around function can be programmed for push key.
The transceiver transmits with receive frequency and QT/DQT code.
When this key is pressed, "TA" appears on Small Digit LCD.


 [Channel UP/DOWN] Help
Channel UP/DOWN function can be programmed for UP/DOWN Knob.
If this knob is turned to Clock Wise, the channel increase.
If this knob is turned to Counter-Clock Wise, the channel
decreases.


 [Group UP/DOWN] Help
Group UP/DOWN function can be programmed for UP/DOWN Knob.
If this knob is turned to Clock Wise, the group increases.
If this knob is turned to Counter-Clock Wise, the group
decreases.
