The November 2009 meeting of the RVARC was called to order at 1903 by President Tom Lauzon, KI4AFE. Tom led all present in the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 21 members signed in.
General
- The minutes of the October 2009 RVARC meeting were read and approved.
- Paul, K0PT presented a brief Treasurer's report. The last expenditure from the account was to support the 2009 Field Day activities.
- The club breakfast will be at the Golden Corral, 5 December 2009 at approximately 0800 hrs.
Old Business
- Nominations for Ham of the Year and Elmer of the Year are still needed. Please provide Tom, KI4AFE, with your nominations. These need to be completed ASAP so Tom can obtain the appropriate plaques/awards to be presented at the Club's Christmas Dinner.
- Frank, WA4PAG, suggested that the Club prepare and submit to the ARRL Public Service Activity Reports for the activities the Club supported this year. The members approved the suggestion and Frank will prepare and submit these reports.
- David, N4WDC, reported on the Christmas Party planning. The Christmas Party will be held at Mimi's Caf� on Thursday 10 December 2009 beginning at approximately 1900Hrs. The entr�es will be selectable from the menu.
- Pete, KJ4ALX, affirmed that the tour of the Sterling Weather Center will occur on 9 January 2010. There is room for twenty persons on the tour. Please contact Pete if you are interested. Pete usually monitors the Club repeater during working hours during the weekdays, so he can be contacted there.
- Nominations for Club officers are due to David, N4WDC ASAP.
- Jack, KB4XF reported on the ARRL Field Day results. Some pertinent statistics are as follows:
- K4TS was 51st out of 2612 listed participants throughout the US and Canada.
- K4TS was 8th out of 193 listed participants in the ARRL Roanoke Division.
- K4TS was 5th out of 75 listed participants for the ARRL Virginia Section.
- K4TS was 1st in Category 11A.
New Business
- John, WB4TYS, reported on a tentative request from the Scouts requesting our support of the Ten Commandments Walk in February. The Club will revisit this request during the January 2010 meeting.
- Larry, KJ4JPZ inquired about how to obtain Club name tags. Jim, NX4Q will investigate this item and report the findings at the January 2010 meeting.
- The Club members approved a motion to invite the appropriate Red Cross personnel to the Club Christmas Party. David, N4WDC will issue the invitations.
- Everett Seamans, KJ4OLF was elected by the Club members as a new member of RVARC. Welcome Everett! The policy of the Club regarding dues for members who join the Club during the last quarter of the year is that the dues will be applied to the subsequent year. Therefore, KJ4OLF's dues paid are good through 2010.
- The meeting was adjourned at 1948 hrs.
