Russia and amateur radio: pages of history
7 may 1895 - Alexander Popov made the first radio communication at meeting of Russian Society of Chemicals and Physicians.
The first radio message consisted of just two words "HENRICH HERZ". The world came in the age of wireless communication.
1924 - Soviet government permitted to use "the private radio stations". The amateur radio in Soviet Russia was born.
16 january 1925- the first russian radioamateur Fedor Lbov received his license. The call-sign R1FL meant R(ussia) 1st F(edor) L(bov).
Along with his friend they aired by CW on 100 meters band for an hour (then they had even none receiver). In a day their reception from Iraq was confirmed.
The first amateur one-way QSO from Russia was made!
25 march 1925 - the transcontinental QSO was made between Russia and North America. The band was 84 meters and the radio station had 35 horses-power (about 15 kilowatts!)
a letter from Lewis Rescach (Puerto Rico) that was received by one newspaper's editor of those days
"...Your signals were as strong as enough to contact to Mars or Jupiter. They were very much stable. Your radio was
the first one from Bolsheviks that I have ever heard."
1961 - The USSR joined to IARU
nowadays - the Russia is devided to 10 radio districts

list of oblasts. Oblast is an administrative part of Russian Federation. The
annual fee for radiostation is less 2 USD. The radio amateur may have a certificate
in 1,2,3 or 4 class. The grade of class limits the input power, frequencies
amd modes permitted for transmission.
