Before I took this column I was advised that the contributions
to it would be low. That was almost an understatement.
Perhaps DXing the VHF pagers is too easy, not enough challenge
with them IDing every 15 seconds. I admit the messages (when they
have them) are not the most exciting or entertaining either. I'm
just a propagation nut so I simply view them as MUF indicators.
I know that more of you have 30-50 equipment out there than are
sending in reports. If you do get some DX, send it in. I've got
plenty of room for it in the column.

I meant to include the following information in last month's
column but ran out of space. If you are interested in regional
directories of VHF stations (business, public safety, etc.)
Communications Research Bureau, P.O. Box 56, Commack, NY, 11725
has a huge variety. Drop them a line for a list of the various ones
they sell. The usual price is around a dollar or two.

My apologies for the quality of the May VUD column. It had
been some time since I had cut any stencils.

KIF 650 was listed incorrectly before as KIF 663. Black Dot, 43 bytes Well, that's how 30-50 has been lately. The Es season is about past the midpoint but there should be plenty of it on up to the time F2 returns. Some days in June the F2 MUF has been up to 42 MHz into South America. The sun spot cycle hasn't died yet, and the fall and winter should supply ample F2 across the US up to near 40 MHz. Next spring will most likely be the last for years for 50-MHz F2 DX. 73, Pat WA5IYX/5
