Hi Joe !
Listened to SV/DL2NUD on 1296 running JT65 with DJ9YW and I heard them
really well, speaker copy. They should be able to make CW contacts as well
given the signal they produce via the moon with their two yagis. I will
try to catch them for a sked, if possible.

Hello Joe,
I have a new job so haven't been able to participate in the HF net. I
am already at work on Saturdays at 1400 UTC and get off at 2300 UTC. I
am usually burned out on Sundays so I sleep in to about 1700 UTC.I want
to mention that those who do not want or can't contribute to the HF net
can still offer inputs to the net via email by the use of the net notes.
It nice to get reports from those still active. I haven't seem hardly
any activity of 23 Cm in a year. The only station that is active all the
time is G4CCH. He is there each and everytime I call CQ. I got your sked
info on VE6TA so looking forward to work him. I should be off that
Saturday hopefully. Most of my activity has been on 2 meters WSJT
because that is the only activity I can find.
See you next time.

Hi all, after a tough year of building, fixing and spending copius amounts of cash on the
hobby, I am back on 23cm eme. Yesterday I copied my own signals, although weak, off the
moon and since I will generally be around for the next couple of weeks I will be available
for skeds on 23cm, Send me an email if you have interest.....

Hi All,
My 70cm four of 16 arrays had dameged due to strong wind on May.
So I am QRT now.
I removed all antenna last week and will re-build up in 1st week
July.
So I will be back on 70cm next sked weekend(July 10-11)
if weather will be fine.

Subj: W5ZN comments
Date: 6/26/04 12:11:18 PM Eastern Daylight Time
From: [email protected] (Don Stradley)
To: [email protected] (Joe Demaso)
Joe,
You can put these comments in the net notes, I don't care.
Joel is wrong headed about a lot of things. If he were to get on the air, he might
understand what is going on.
There are multiple problems with ARRL and QST as well as the employees there.
Log submissions are down because:
1. If we have to subscribe to a "Contest Magazine" to see the results that is BS.
2. Why should I go to the internet to send in my log, yes it is easier, but then it
won't work because ARRL dictates what format to use. The ARRL is not always computer
literate.
3. QST is only a "wannabee" magazine. 90 % of the articles are from folks that are
not on the air. The information is wrong, will not work in the real world or has not
been proven before it is published.
4. Politics; Yes there is a lot of that. They (W5ZN & W3ZZ) ask for input but want
to argue the point, then do the opposite of what we have told them. We are the people
that operate the EME bands and contests, not them. We will continue to operate, and
do it properly even though they will do everything possible to screw it up.
5. JT44 & JT65 etc., will kill it for the newcomer. Articles in QST has made this
mode to be the greatest thing since ice cream. This is not true. Every report that
I've heard from the big guns has verified that. Do not be political about it, just
try it and tell the truth.
6. New comers are being led astray (by QST & idiots on the logger/internet). Some of
the questions that I've fielded from folks that think they are interested in EME proves
that. Many are interested, but are not physically located where it can be done.
Others have no idea about VHF/UHF requirements, therefore cannot have any idea about
what the requirements would be for EME. By the time I have e-mailed them 3 or 4 times,
they know that it is either over their head or they are not financially able to bring
it off.
7. Everyone needs to go back to the basics, and remember that the antenna is first.
Understand that receive gain is the #1 thing on any band. Buy an "old" ARRL Handbook
and read it. Learn Ohms law! Then you may be ready to ask questions about EME.
.....................................................................................
And Joe this comment is for you. I have no problem with you trying to not offend anyone.
Some people need to be offended before they start thinking.
Last comment; If folks want their computer to make the contacts, then we really need a
new mode for it all. The newbees can have the low power, JT44 etc., and let the PC do
it all while they are on vacation out of the country. Then automatically submit the log
to ARRL where they can give out an award over the internet. Look at all the postage
they can save.
