Joe,

Thanks to you and other net members for fielding my questions.

Please add me to the net note list.

More questions, if you have time to deal with them:

Am I correct in understanding that I won't have to deal with the low altitude requirement
(in reference to the horizon)  - if I operate at 23 centimeters or above with a dish?  I'm
blocked by hills below about 20 deg. in altitude.   I could relocate  the dish and improve
that somewhat - but obviously I would like to avoid that.  Also, if  I'm limited to
conservative levels in power - is CW still the preferred mode at 23 cm and above?  I ask,
because I'm in no danger of melting down a key with my lightning code speed.

I'm very much interested in EME.  You could probably tell that I'm new to amateur radio -
but I have some hands on technical background in VHF/UHF from my days as a land mobile radio
technician in the  80's.  The idea of using the moon as a passive reflector is so amazing
that I'm surprised more hams are not into it.  I realize that the time, technical effort,
and money spent will not be insignificant - but it seems to me the payoff would be just as
satisfying - if not more so - than many other technical areas of amateur radio.

Thanks,

Dennis    ki4ece , Kentucky

By the way, we use to own  a few acres of  land near North Anson, Maine -  where we camped
in the summers.  This was back in the 70's when we lived northwest of  Manchester, New
Hampshire near  a little town called Deering - near Hillsboro.
    A beautiful state,  Maine  -
-- My Kentucky blood just couldn't handle those winters -  in fact Florida is looking better
every year older I get.

been increased to 350 watts on 1296 MHz with excellent echoes.

Subj:    [Moon-net] UHF:13 cm Activity

Grettings:
After a couple of close calls on moonrise with six meter EME, I
installed the new 13 cm septum feed in the dish and arranged skeds with
WA6PY and SK0UX.
Before my sked with WA6PY I listened to SK0UX and WA6PY complete a
contact, both stations with very good signals.
Then I managed to find SK0UX calling with strong signals and worked Hans
and crew on random.  Very distintive chirp, but also very strong peaking
539 here.
Went on to work Paul WA6PY easily on our sked.  Paul can hear a pin drop
and appeared to have little problem with my puny 90 watts.
G3LTF also sent a SWL report, so my next goal to get the recieve
converter working properly for 2424 and 2320 mhz.
Heard my echoes weakly as well so things are progressing.  Am now
looking forward to more activity on the band next weekend.

73's to all.

Grant
