Hi Guys

Have had some really good tips as to what things could be wrong and I am in
the process of working through them.
I see in net notes that K5JL and others have not heard from me so I must be
screwing up again because I did reply to all emails.
To K5JL,
J,after receiving your most helpful email I sent you some images of the dish
and a article I was putting together for my club magazine.
The article hasn't been published yet as I havn't acheived any decent
results but one is hopeful. It is the easiest way for me to describe what I
have been putting together over the last 4 years with out typing it all out
again. Some of the equipment is being changed as I try to sort the
problems. You gave me some info on better preamps and I would like to
purchase a unit but need more info on which one is best and where I can
locate them.Could you please contact me.

I had not completed meshing the top, bottom, and left and right edges of the
dish because the grid pack did not have support for the mesh. This mean't
that there was 4 peices about 1.000 long by about 130mm wide missing off
these 4 places. This would cause some spillover and would be a reason for the
focal point peak being 100 mm closer in????
These missing pieces can be seen on image 3. I meshed them in this weekend.
I will attach images and my notes here so as you can see if I have screwed
up.If anything looks or sounds like rubbish let me know as I have been
building it from info out of books and images off the net.
Since my poor effort at reception during the contest I have built a standard
copper feed which is nice and light and easy to go hunting the focal point
with.I am removing the 432 dipoles and back plane and ao40 patch off the
W2IMU feed and will sort it for 1296 first.
I will be listening!!! only during next contest but hope to see some small
improvement.
To anyone else that hasn't heard from me I apologise But I have sent emails
to all that contacted me so lord knows where I sent them.

Regards

Brent

Hi Folks;
The WX has changed greatly, got up this AM, Temp. is 15deg C, Disk is clear
and looking good.
BTW! That storm we had broke all existing records in this area for this
time of year, dating back over 115 years, so who knows, hi.
Getting over one surgical operation, scheduled for another, so things are
still very much up in the Air as far as the ARRL EME contest is concerned, hi.
Have fun.....while you can, hi, hi.

Regards & Thanks, Darrell

Hello,

It came out on last DUBUS and now you can
find it on my web pages. It is a small circuit to
lock any microwave local oscillators to a reference
(10MHz, 5MHz or 1pps from a GPS receiver)
This can be quite useful for upper EME bands.
It is orders of magnitude smaller and less complex than
any previous designs.
Hope you like it.

Subj:    EA8/LA8LF QRV next week-end and in contest on 23CM EME..

Hi Joe,
I will be qrv next week-end and in the contest if all works OK.
Tower and dish is up. Tracking is OK. Will install equipment this
week and test. Have 3dB more drive for my TH-328 cavity tube, so
my signals should be a bit stronger than last time I operated from
the island.
WX is fine and slight wind. No problem. Will take down Dish and tower after
contest and go home on the 29th. I do not know if I will be QRV again from
EA8 on 23CM EME, maybe a short show on 13CM next spring (DUBUS/REF contest).

Subj:    HB9Q Results first leg ARRL EME Contest
Date:   11/10/02 8:22:19 AM Eastern Standard Time
From:   [email protected] (HB9Q, Dan Gautschi)
To:     [email protected]

Dear friends
due to heavy work-load we are late publishing our results.
We have worked on
144:    79 stations and 33 multipliers
432:    35 stations and 23 multipliers
1296:   32 stations and 17 multipliers

The conditions were difficult due to strong sun activity especially on 144
MHz. On 432 MHz we had heavy local QRM, which forced us to follow the rhythm
of the other station. It was difficult to operate under such conditions. On
1296 MHz we must have had a RX-problem, since we did not hear several
stations which we usually can work with no extra effort. We will check our
RX-path before the contest and hope to fix it. The storm over big parts of
Europe kept the activity low. Why Japan was represented so little we don't
know. Unfortunately we did not find any activity from Africa on the 3 bands.

We are very much looking forward to the second leg where we will try to work
all the stations we missed. As always we will announce our QRV times and
frequencies before the contest on the reflector, the VHF- and UHF-EME-net
and our homepage (www.hb9q.ch). If you would like to get a
last-minute-up-date about our activity send us an e-mail to: [email protected]

Hope to work you all!
