This year, I don't mind either way.

However, if September becomes a permanent feature in future years, there
are some weekends you will always need to avoid in order to ensure full
European involvement.

* 1st full weekend in September is the IARU Region 1 2m contest.
QRM to 2m EME, and a conflict for many active UHFers too.

* 2nd full weekend in September. You'll probably avoid this weekend
anyhow, because it's the VHF QSO Party, but it is also is the Mannheim
(formerly Weinheim) VHF Conference - the largest VHF event in the
world. Many active EMEers from across western Europe go every year.

These add to the October and November weekends you already know about:

* 1st full weekend in October is the IARU Region 1 UHF/microwave
contest. Some QRM, and a conflict for many active VHF/UHF/microwave
  operators.

* 1st full weekend in November is the IARU Region 1 CW contest.
  Impossible QRM on 144!

Hi Ian,

Just because we may have the contest in Sept & Oct this year does NOT mean it
will occur that way in the future. It depends, as you know, on several factors.

Given the good dates are late Sept and late Oct this year, that may be preferred.
I understand the conflicts we have to work around. So, whatever dates are chosen
this year, next year we will use the same process as this year and last (which is
similar to previous years) in seeking the most preferred dates for the contest.

Thanks for you help.

Hello Joe,

Last Sunday May 7th I had very nice O/O  QSO with Jan DL9KR on 70cm. It is
funny to use my 1.65m dish on 70cm but very interesting for me to do it on
5th band via EME. On all allowed in Russia bands from 3 to 70cm hi.
Gain is 12...13 dBd. Feed - two short (250mm) 4el Yagis spaced on 260mm.
Power - abt 700W at the feed from GS23B amplifier. No problem to add 3...4
dB to TX but main problem is high noise temperature of antenna.

Hi Joe,

Last weekend skeds were about 25% successful (much better than my usual
7-8%!).  I worked G3SEK, OH2DG, KAØRYT, KB8RQ, and W7BBM for 5 new
initials.  Should have had OZ6OL, we were so close.  Generally, I heard a
lot more than I could work, which is testimony to my new 432 module in the
FT-767 and its terrific Audio Peak Filter (APF)!

I heard K4QI and VK4AFL but did not have time to work them due to skeds.
K4QI was his usual terrific signal, but Trevor was pushing an S-5 beautiful
signal!  Quite amazing. I am tied down until next month...not sure if I
will have much time to devote in June.

Tnx & 73

To all stations:

The following are the results from my poll via MOON-NET for input on the
dates for the 2000 ARRL International EME Contest.

The input covers Operators from ALL bands not just 2 Meters. K1RQG and KD4LT
passed on any input they had from the 70 CM and up group. As well I received
direct input from many VHF and up operators

Oct 21/22 and Nov 18/19 weekends:

47 Votes which includes 20 from Europe

Sept 23/24 and Oct 21/22 weekends:

20 Votes which includes 11 from Europe

Sept 23/24 and Nov 18/19 weekends:

2 Votes which includes 1 from Europe

Joel, W5UN has been copied on this message. The above data should be good
input for the ARRL to make their final decision on the dates for the contest.
