This year's expedition will be a "TOP" one !

Almost at the top of the world, around 80° North.
Spitsbergen - Svalbard will host the team in a cool place.


Cool, because the average temperature in summer reaches a +5°C.
Also cool if you can imagine a place as great as the area of Belgium and the Netherland together inhabited by +- 2000 people and ... polar bears.
And so cool that we will be warmly hosted by the local radio club.

 

The QSL manager will be LA5NM.

Svalbard activity JW5E -EU-026- IOTA Contest 2001

As usual and now for the seventh IOTA contest in a raw, a Belgian team will head for an island: Svalbard-Spitsbergen, one of the most northern locations in the world.

Pierre ON7PC and Fred ON6QR will activate on July  28-29 2001 the JW5E station in Longyearbyen.

Although being so close to the North Pole (1.000 Km) is regarding the propagation often a disadvantage, they hope you will be happy to add this multiplier or new IOTA in your log !

The usual equipment will be run besides a linear amplifier and a beam plus wire antenna for the lower bands.

On Friday July 27, they will test the rig on the air. Please show you’re listing to them !

If in the mean time they aren’t devoured by polar bears, they will be happy to answer and log you.
