Intro: If you want to have a guest license in South Africa contact their Radio League, SARL. South Africa implements CEPT Recommendation TR 61-01 and no separate license is needed if you have joined CEPT (see CEPT). For other than CEPT countries the following is the best information that we have

PTT:

The above street address is no longer valid, at this stage the home of Len ZS6BYE is the HQ, until the new premises are ready. E-mail address is < [email protected] >

Chris Turner ZS6GM, e-mail: < [email protected] > informs:

If a US radio amateur wishes to operate in South Africa, I am of the opinion that you may do so in terms of existing arrangements without needing to apply for a guest licence since SA agreed in 1996 with the SARL that any amateurs from countries who were signatories to the CEPT agreement need not have a separate reciprocal arrangement, but that the terms of the CEPT agreement would apply to them, that is both TR 61-01 and TR 61-02.

Notes: Unfortunately the rare DX of Walvis Bay and Penguin Islands is no more. We are just left with Marion Island and Antarctica. (What a shame!)
