If you can hear the net on 145.27 but you can't connect with it, and if you are within the published coverage area:
1. Increase your transmitter output power.
2. Use a better antenna.
3. Elevate your antenna clear of obstructions.
4. Re-locate to higher ground.
5. Check your PL tone settings are 107.2 Hz and active.
6. Check your radio mode is FM Wide.
Hand held radios are not generally adequate for traffic net operations. Elevated antennas and higher power levels are required in some areas. Mobile or base station radios are preferred. To be effective, you need both hands free to process messages. Use a headphone/mic. Mobile stations are generally unable to process messages unless they are stationary or have a co-pilot aboard. Remember Oregon's Distracted Driver Law. While it exempts ham radio operators, remember, Safety First!
