Don't just talk about traffic handling, let's do it! Valentines Day is February 14. Why not send a Valentine greeting
to someone you love via amateur radio? This is a good exercise for
the entire system and builds experience needed during emergencies. Format your Radiogram like this example: 1 R W7ZXZ RRC9 YOURTOWN STATECODE MONTH(MMM) DAY(DD) <(Header Line.) ADDRESSEE NAME STREET ADDRESS CITY STATECODE ZIPCODE 123 456 7890 EMAIL ADDEE ATSIGN EMAIL DOT COM (Always spell out punctuation.) BT RRC FIFTY RRC SIXTY VALENTINES DAY X LOVE YOU BT SENDER SIGNATURE The Radiogram Header explained: [Msg. #] [Precedence {R for routine}] [Station of origin]
[Word/group count {RRC signifies a RRC numbered radiogram text is
used.}] [Place of Origin] [Date] Note that handling instructions (HX_) and Time Filed are not used
in Routine messages unless the message is time sensitive. Numbered Radiogram Texts are here: https://radiorelay.org/publications/ The Delivering Station will translate the Numbered Radiogram Text
to plain text on delivery.
Present your message to your Section or Local net for relay. For
voice, say: This is YOURCALL, with traffic, when you check in to
the net. When the net control station (NCS) asks for your
traffic, say: I have ## routine message(s) for (City(s) and/or
State, if outside of Oregon,) over. The NCS will direct you from
there. For CW, send "de YOURCALL, QTC ## (City, State etc.)
K. Then wait for direction from the NCS. Liaison stations will relay your traffic to Section or Region nets
for relay. Local nets: Portland Metro, Northwest Oregon Traffic
and Training Net on 145.27 MHz (107.2) repeater meets at 18:05
local time, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Traffic
routes via the Section or Region Net Liaison as mentioned. Check
your local net! Liaison to OSN or the Digital Traffic Network! It's as simple as that! Contact your Section Traffic Manager for
answers to traffic handling questions. 73 - Dave - W7EES - ARRL Oregon STM [email protected] https://w7ees.net https://qsl.net/w7ees 250418
