The NS9M 146.745 Repeater
The NS9M
repeater is located in Parke County, Indiana at the WAXI-FM radio station.
The radio station is located approximately half way between the city of
Clinton, Indiana and Rockville, Indiana on U.S. 41 North.
The repeater is "open"
for use by any licensed amateur radio operator with a Technician class
or higher class license who wishes to use the system.
The repeater is made possible
through the generosity of: Mr. Mike Petersen, Owner/General Manager of
WAXI-FM ,
and Mr. Bob McCullough, General Manager of Parke
County REMC.
The repeater antenna's
base is mounted at the 260 foot level of WAXI's tower. The antenna is a
four-bay, exposed dipole antenna resonant in the 146 Mhz. amateur
band. The antenna is fed with approximately 265 feet of 7/8-inch hardline.
The repeater is currently
a Motorola Micor RT (repeater) station. The transmitter is operating with
a power output of approximately 100 watts into the duplexer.
The duplexer is a Phelps-Dodge six
cavity duplexer with an additional cavity connected to the receive side
of the duplexer.
The repeater is housed in a building
that also houses the repeater for the Parke County REMC. This building
is temperature controlled, alarmed against intrusion, and is provided with
full back-up power in the event of a power failure. The back-up generator
also powers the WAXI transmitter and studios as well! This is an EXCELLANT
site!
At this time the repeater is "carrier
operated," no CTCSS tone is required.
Future Improvements
*The
repeater is operating on "carrier squelch" and will continue to operate
in this mode unless I am forced to use CTCSS (tone) due to interference
to the repeater. So far there has been no problems.
