Q. What are the requirements to join the Kalamazoo County RACES program?

   A.

You must be an Amateur Radio Operator with a valid license.
You must complete the state requirements.
You must pass a background (LEIN) check conducted by KCSD.
You must be approved by the Emergency Management director and by the Kalamazoo County RACES radio officer.
You must attend at least 3 of the monthly RACES meetings, prior to being issued an ID card.

Q. How Do I join the program?

   A.

   Begin by completing the RACES application form.
   Attend  RACES meetings. 2nd Wednesday 7:00pm  KCSD EOC
   Complete the State Requirements.
   Upon completion of the prerequisites, an ID card will be issued.

Q. What are the new requirements?

NOTE: As of this time 2/04, it appears that the old IS-2 requirement is the only certification required by the State. Your local EM may have other requirements.
