This is the statue of Robert Falcon Scott, the first
British explorer to reach the pole. RF Scott staged his expeditions from the
Christchurch area.

Centre. The complex contains the CDC (Clothing Distribution Center) where cold
weather gear is issued, and flights are staged. The track vehicles in front of
the Centre are tourist rides.
The sundial in the center of the rose garden of the
Christchurch Botanical Gardens is interesting. Notice how the numbers go
counter-clockwise.
