Hi all. Cary, kc8jka offered to write up this past weekends hunt,
as I felt unable to do it justice. His write up follows. I'd like to
extend a special thanks to both Dennis and Cary for patiently trying
to explain which end of the beam is which. "I get by with a little
help from my friends".... or I suppose I could mention that we
guru's have unusual ways of teaching? ;^)...

John

"Dear John",
I'm not sure that I can do this... write an article about "The Hunt" that
is, with out telling the whole story. Fearing that I maybe by putting my
head on a chopping block, but I need to tell the whole story, so that our
fellow "Hamies" will know the story about the "Guru"...
...How he had his beams pointed in the wrong direction (Well it isn't that
he had the beams pointed in the wrong direction, but maybe the "Guru" became
confused as to which was the front and which was the back of it). Or how
many times it was mentioned that his beams where pointed in a direction that
he... I mean, we didn't want to go
(how many fingers and toes do Ihave???... Oh yes, not that many).
Even the teacher will learn from the sage. As the miss guided individuals
will journey many miles before the "Fox will present it self to them.
As for the "Fox"; hiding quickly (KC8ACO & KB8DWF's 5.2 miles to find a spot
and hide) and with his cunning ability, the "Fox" was able to control his
own power, and was able to steer many in wrong directions
like 180 degrees in the wrong direction.
With some "Hunters" traveling more than others (N8SUA's 75.1 miles and
N8DEF's 21.7 miles), we all have learned from the experiences tought us this
day. The "Teacher" (with guided wisdom) with the understanding and forsight
(me - KC8JKA, the one counting on my fingers and toes; and yes I can count
to "Ten"... ahh oh... "Twenty") was able to find the "Fox" also (AA8LF's 6.8 miles).

There are those individuals with a will to learn on their own. A will that allows
themselves to catch on quickly and find a parking spot in Francis Park, then
to continue their journey on foot; to seek out and find the
"Fox" (KB8ZRE's 4.9 miles - HA, Great you get to hide the "Fox"
next, and KB8ZQZ's 6.4 miles). I can only aspire to be as wise one day.
For those of us in "The Hunt" (Ed-KC8DWF, Leon/Chip-KC8ACO, Bill-KB8ZRE,
John-N8SUA, Mark-N8DEF, Dave-N8WTH,
Dennis-KB8ZQZ, John-AA8LF and myself, Cary-KC8JKA)
it was a great hunt and beautiful day. I'll be looking forward
to furture "Hunts" with all of you.
As for me, I am the young
(OK, not in years) sage (John's driver for this
hunt), who has enjoyed the teachings of those who know the ways of "The Fox"
(Bill-KB8ZRE on my first hunt; Thank-you. Also, John-AA8LF on my secound
hunt; and Thank-you). I will be looking forward to the leasons and teachings
of "The Fox" on furture hunts.

...so John as you can see it just wouldn't be right to leave out any of the

details. ;^) 73's, Cary - KC8JKA
