ARRL Southwestern Division...

HR 230 - BPL Evaluation - As shown on the ARRL homepage, the League asks amateurs to send letters to their congressmen in support of House Resolution 230. HR 230 calls on the FCC to comprehensively evaluate BPL's interference potential. The full story, with links to suggested letters, is at http://www.arrl.org/news/stories/2005/06/07/1/?nc=1.

July 2005 ARRL Board Meeting - The next ARRL Board Meeting will take place in Hartford, CT on July 15 and 16, 2005. As discussed in the June QST editorial, the ARRL Executive Committee has proposed requesting FCC regulation of amateur subbands by bandwidth instead of mode of emission. The suggestion is presently under debate by the Board. I have discussed this issue at a number of clubs, and still request your inputs.

Director Club Presentations - Clubs wishing a presentation on current ARRL policy issues should get in touch with me by telephone (best way, phone number is in QST), or by E-mail. Please let me know the expected attendance.

Last Minute Club Presentations - I have been able to substitute for scheduled speakers with only a day or two notice at times, if my schedule permits.

Division Web-site - The Division web-site has a calendar of Southwestern Division Amateur Radio events for 2005. See http://www.kkn.net/n6aa/ or simply navigate to the site from the Divisions page at http://www.arrl.org.

Williams Hamfest - Note that the ARRL Arizona State Convention and Hamfest will be held at Williams, AZ, near the Grand Canyon, on July 8, 9, and 10. Details are at www.arca-az.org/arca SWD Convention - The ARRL Southwestern Division Convention will be in Riverside, CA, on September 9, 10, and 11. See www.arrlswdconv.org.

Club "Elmer Outreach" Program - The Anaheim Amateur Radio Association has regularly scheduled events dedicated to assisting all amateurs with questions or problems. Their next event is Saturday, June 18th. Details are at www.aara.org.

Vice Director Ned Stearns, AA7A, and I continue to solicit your ideas regarding ARRL policy.
