"LOUIE"

They tell me that over the long haul,
That history will repeat itself.
But I dont think it will ever happen,
In quite the same way as it did for myself.

I was sitting playing at the organ,
It was a beautiful sunny summer day,
When I heard your meow through the screen door,
So I sprang up not knowing what to say.

You seemed to be friendly but needy,
With what appeared to be a smile on your face,
So I summoned my wife for some counsel,
To find out what thoughts she might have in place.

It was decided that you might be hungry,
For we knew not from where you had come.
So in haste we moved to the kitchen,
Hoping to find something more than a crumb.

It was agreed that milk be our first offering,
For there was no cat vittles to be had.
So we poured in a bowl a small portion,
To see first if you would down it like mad.

Over the years you brought much joy and happiness,
Into the lives of a family of five,
It was your soft and tender purring,
That told us you were well satisfied.

The thoughts of you still linger,
In the hearts and minds of those left behind,
But we know your home now is in cat heaven,
For Louie you are really just one of a kind.

The music on this page "Crazy" was written by country western
singer/writer Willie Nelson for his friend Patsy Cline. She
introduced the song on the Grand Ole Oprey before her career
was ended at age 30 in an airplane crash near Camden.
Tennessee, in 1963. On her headstone are these words of truth
"Death can not kill what never dies ~ love."
