ABOUT N6WQY

N6WQY is Rick Jones of Lake Elsinore, CA. I was first licensed as as a novice with the callsign WL7HQV in 1972 while living at Elmendorf A.F.B., Alaska. After moving to California in 1974, I allowed my novice ticket to expire and thus began a 13 year hiatus from amateur radio. However, I had already been infected with the ham bug!

After marrying in 1987, I was relicensed as a novice again and given the callsign KB6ZYZ. After two years, I upgraded to General class and received my current callsign of N6WQY. In June of 1999, I upgraded to the Advanced class while retaining the same call. My next challenge is the 20 WPM code test. Wish me luck!

Professionally, I work as an Applications Systems Analyst for a community college district in Southern California. I have been working in this field for 15 years. I do web site design and installations as a side business.

On the personal side, I've been married for 12 years and have three wonderful children, two boys and one girl.
