At the conclusion of my essay Stealing The Key, I asked other men to share their stories of declaring their independence. The following was submitted by Bob Lewis, of The Single Father's Lighthouse:
I'm not sure it's appropriate for your collection of stolen key stories, but I thought I'd share a bit of mine. Getting my tattoo shortly before my divorce in 1992 was a direct result of my "epiphany." I've inserted a picture and the poem for whatever they're worth.
The red has faded through the years, washed away with now dry tears that took on color as I lived. I traded it for learning.
The green won't wash away so fast
Those wings have grown since from that day
