Dragonrose

At the conclusion of my essay Stealing The Key, I asked other men to share their stories of declaring their independence. The following was submitted by Bob Lewis, of The Single Father's Lighthouse:

I'm not sure it's appropriate for your collection of stolen key stories, but I thought I'd share a bit of mine. Getting my tattoo shortly before my divorce in 1992 was a direct result of my "epiphany." I've inserted a picture and the poem for whatever they're worth.
The red has faded through the years,
washed away with now dry tears
that took on color as I lived.
I traded it for learning.

The green won't wash away so fast
that maudlin token of my past
but it's been blessed by those I knew.
Oh, to live without the yearning!

Those wings have grown since from that day
we cried and had our darkest day
and crawled up from the ashen place.
Pray charcoal winds have turning.
