A File For The Word Processor

I wish our life were entered
On a floppy disk,
A file for the word processor.
I'd seize the opportunity,
Rewrite those awkward paragraphs,
Smooth out the rougher passages -
There are so many errors
I am longing to correct.
If I could but delete the parts
That brought us so much pain,
Erase our recent foolishness,
If I could purge all thoughtless acts
Vindictive words and hostile deeds,
Abandon present misery
And write a happy ending,
Perhaps you'd then be willing
To remain with me
To live the final chapter.
I wish our life were entered
On a floppy disk,
A file for the word processor.
