Watching You Sleep

Sometimes I want
To wake you and shake you
Into your senses,
Force you to face me
For tearing my heart out,
Destroying my dreams.

But if you wake
Your smile of repose
Slowly will fade.
Your eyes will turn vacant,
You'll feel great resentment
For what we have dreamed.

So I let you sleep.
Some day, on your own,
You'll slowly awaken.
I must be patient
And give you the chance
To recapture our dream.
