Love Poems by H. Paul Shuch, Ph.D.

And Still You Are Not Satisfied

I wrote you poems
Extolling your virtues
And still you are not satisfied.
Shall I entreat
Friend Cyrano
To move you with his eloquence
And woo you with his words?

I bought you gifts
To tickle your fancy
And still you are not satisfied.
Shall I arrange
For Roebuck and Sears
To send you their whole catalog
And buy for me your love?

I made love to you
As best I'm able
And still you are not satisfied.
Should I now hire
Harry Rheems
Of naughty movie fame
To fill you beyond capacity?

I accumulated wealth
In modest measure
And still you are not satisfied.
Do I need
A Rothschild or a Rockefeller
To teach me of prosperity
And dazzle you with dough?

We traveled far and wide,
Explored the planet,
And still you are not satisfied.
Must I join NASA,
Hijack a shuttle,
Crisscross the cosmos
Finding you new worlds?

I married you,
We live as one
And still you are not satisfied.
Shall I inquire
Of Solomon the wise
Who had a hundred wives,
The secret of wedded bliss?

I lived my life
In love with you
And still you are not satisfied.
Shall I demand
Of Methuselah
His secrets of the ages
That we might share another lifetime?

I am . . .
And still you are not satisfied.
