Deep Feelings

It is my curse
To be blessed
With deep feelings.
They cause me to cry
For what cannot be
Rather than enjoying
What was,
Exploiting
What is,
Savoring
What is to come.
It would be
So much easier
Simply to say
"That was a great lay"
And go back
To my wife,
To my life,
As though none of it
Mattered
Past the orgasm.
I cannot.
For it is my blessing
To be cursed
With deep feelings.
