My Album Is Forever

I've never kept a scrapbook
Nor albums filled with photos
Because I keep my memories
Locked deep inside of me.

I close my eyes and see you
As you looked the day we married
Frightened and uncertain
And sad I knew not why.

My inner Instamatic
Has captured every detail
As you slowly grew to love me
And trust my love for you.

The picture I hold dearest
Shows you waking in the morning
Excited by the prospects
The new day holds in store.

I see the tragic image
Of you slowly drifting farther
From my grasp. You can not know
How I ached to bring you back.

One Polaroid is special
For it shows you in the evening
An hour of perfect passion
Etched soft upon your face.

So even if you left me
You never could escape me.
My album is forever
And so my life fulfilled.
