Pressured at the Polling Place

Standing on queue
At the polling place, I am
Accosted by a cadre
Of campaign volunteers
Proffering printed propaganda,
Last-minute vote manipulation.

As I gently decline
Their advice and assistance
They become more insistent,
Belligerent,
Until finally I articulate
My personal electoral policy:

"I am in the habit
Of voting for opponents to
Candidates whose supporters
Campaign outside the polling place
On election day. Now,
Are you very certain
You still wish to hand me that?"

Slowly and reluctantly,
Democans and Republicrats alike
All back away
In confusion.
