Beside the Teepee

Early last evening beside the teepee
Huddled together against the mist
The campfire keeping the beasts at bay
You showed me a bit of your wilder self
Primitive nature to mirror my own.
As you stirred the embers and fanned the flames
Did you know how you stirred my soul and fanned
The flames of my passion as well?
Hold fast to that wildness through the years.
As we retreat to our city life
It will resurface from time to time
To stir our embers and fan our flames
Reminding us who we really are,
The wildness which we keep well concealed
Asserting itself when we need it most
Early some evening beside the teepee
Huddled together against the mist.
