Temptation
As I approach and quickly overtake
The bright red beetle, not unlike my own,
The other driver, young, blonde and curvaceous
Smiles, and sparkles most flirtatiously.
For twenty miles of winding interstate
We alternate: accelerate and pass,
And each time with a wink of invitation.
Shortly, a rest area appears,
So I pull out to pass her one more time.
Signaling, I exit to the right,
Hoping beyond reason she will follow,
Grateful and relieved when she does not.
