But Not Much

Even as I revel
In the magic of your love,
I ask myself repeatedly, "Why you?"
There are, after all,
Surely women in the world
More beautiful than you
(But not much).
Those whose gentle touch
Could excite more than yours
(But not much).
Perhaps there is one
With skin more warm and supple,
Hair more soft and fragrant,
One who loves me more completely
(But not much).
I'm sure there are a few
More brilliant or insightful,
More sensitive than you
(But not much).
I imagine it is possible
To feel more fulfilled
(But not much).
There's even someone out there
Who could read my every mood,
Feel my every need,
Fulfill my every dream
More perfectly than you do
(But not much).
There is possibly a woman
Who could make me feel more needed,
More desired, more of a man,
More complete than you do
(But not much).
So if I can be patient
I'm sure that I shall find
A love that's more enduring,
Lasting longer than forever
(But not much).
