I Beseech You

As a teacher, I respect you;
As a colleague, I admire you.
As a friend, I would protect you;
Being human, I desire you.

Though intelligent and learned,
I am acting like a schoolboy.
For my heart and head you've turned;
I have never known such great joy.

I so hunger just to touch you,
Grateful merely to have known you.
I am vulnerable, such true
Naked feelings I have shown you.

As a lover, I beseech you,
Yet I never shall berate you.
Hoping somehow still to reach you,
I impatiently await you.
