The Starting Line in Anchorage
The first Saturday in March is the beginning of the Iditarod Dog Sled Race. This happens in downtown Anchorage. The dogsleds with musher and one guest rider (who pays between $500 and $3000 for the "privilege" of freezing...), take off down the middle of 4th street. If there's not enough snow they truck it in.
