I recently got into ATV here in the Dallas - Ft Worth area. I got the tranmitter boards from Lee (AB5IG) out of Dallas. Here are some pictures of the transmitter after boxing it.
Here is the front view with the video in, left and right audio input.
Here is the rear of the transmitter.
Here is a picture of the antenna that I built out of the ARRL handbook. Most of the measurements were changed due to the boom being a 1" dia. inplace of the 3/4" boom in the book. All the elements had to change too. In talking to a friend of mine, Wes (WA5TUK), he told me that I needed to add some length to the elements and how much of a percentage. I reworked the calulations and it works fine. I was able to transmit a good picture from the Northwest corner of Denton, Texas to downtown Dallas, Texas with 75 milliwatts with a 70% signal to noise ratio. This antenna has 57 elements and is only 16 feet long. Talk about getting tired of drilling. Not going to do it again, thats for sure. Think about free hand drilling over 240 holes. That includes both sides of the boom. I ended up building a total of 3 just like this one at 16 feet and 2 - 8 footers and 1 - 8 foot quagi with 30 plus elements.
Here is a picture of the driven element will try and get the whole element soon and place on here.
Here is the mount that is shown in the ARRL handbook. I used four of the element bolts to hold the boom sections to the mast bracket. I will put new pictures of this when finished. I need some heavier angle material before putting in the air permantly. The support arms connect to the element screws for its boom connection.
Here is a picture of the receive antenna grid and down converter. Connect this to your TV set and tune to channel 9 in Denton, Texas or to channel 10 and 11 or 12 in Dallas, Texas and you can watch what others are doing on ATV.
The unit below the antenna is the down converter that converts the 2.4 gig receive
down to a frequency that you can receive on a cable ready TV.
It is a Conifer Corp. unit GL-3010. Here is a better picture of the down coverter
below.
