Jefferson Amateur Radio Club
The Jefferson Amateur Radio Club (JARC)
is located in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana in the Metairie Playground. The club
has just over 100 members and is the only club in the area that can boast a
fully equipped clubhouse and station. The club has a full HF station with a
linear amp and can operate on HF, UHF and VHF. The JARC also operates a packet
BBS and an ATV station.
The club participates in many contests including November Sweepstakes, Field
Day and most VHF contests. Our core of contest operators has scored a
clean sweep in Sweepstakes for the last several years and usually scores well in
the VHF contests.
In addition, the Jefferson Amateur Radio Club maintains its own web site with
pictures of the club and different operating events. Our newsletter is published
monthly and a copy of it is on the web. As new events take place, these are also
published in a timely manner.
The club has been designated as an ARRL Special Service Club, providing class
instruction for new licensees, QSL checking and other services for the
community.
