Local Control - Literally, this restriction means that the transmitter control point cannot be more than 1/4 mile from the transmitting antenna. In reality, this means that the frequency is intended for use within a certain confined area rather than on a citywide basis. Shopping malls, office buildings, hotels, and hospitals often have repeater systems on these frequencies--and each frequency may have a number of different localized users in the same town. Instead of many users sharing a repeater, many repeaters and base stations share the frequency.

Itinerant - Intended for use by businesses who work at a variety of temporary locations.

GMRS - General Mobile Radio Service (formery Class A Citizen's Band) This is the band from which the Family Radio Service (FRS) gets its frequencies. GMRS users can have higher power radios and even repeater stations on this band. The most famous users is REACT. Because licensing is so easy, we sometimes find security users on this band.
