147.000 Information

The Repeater is located on the east side of Leesburg. The repeater runs about 100 watts and the antenna is over 200 feet up on the tower.

The purpose of the repeater is to furnish communications during times of emergency. It is used to furnish storm related incidents, such as sky warn weather nets, communications for the American Red Cross. It is also used for special event communications.

The repeater normally has a tone of 103.5 hz (13) turned on. This is identified by a single courtesy beep. The repeater may be used for general traffic at this time.

All emergency communications nets are conducted on the 147.000 repeater as the primary repeater. In the event it goes off the air the net will switch to the 147.255 repeater. Other repeaters may also be used as needed.

During times of emergency the tone is turned off. This is identified by the triple courtesy beep.

The triple courtesy beep indicates the some special event is taking place on the repeater. During these times the repeater is not to be used for general communications. Any station that wants to join the activity taking place should give his call sign and stand by to be recognized by the Net Control. No station should transmit until recognized by the Net Control. All transmissions are to be short and concise. There are other repeaters on this same frequency and they may also be conducting emergency communications.
