This Quad is a Lightning Bolt 2 element model. I purchased
this quad about 2 years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed the use of it.
It has an 8 foot boom and is their tri-band version. I ordered this
antenna with separate feed points. I have separate feed lines going
to each of the three elements. The reason for this is so that it
can be used by 2 different stations/transmitters at once in a multi-two
type contesting situation. There is a quarter wave matching section
of 75 ohm coax at each feed point. I also have at the connector a
tee connector with a tuned coaxial stub to help reduce interstation interference.
I have successfully used this antenna with 2 stations at once, both running
the legal limit in power with minimal interference. The antenna has
very sharp nulls to the sides which is typical of a quad. It is also
much quieter than a yagi as far as static and atmospheric noise.
The design and construction of this antenna seem very good in my opinion.
