03 JANUARY 2003

Another major winter storm impacted the northeastern US from 03-04 January 2003. This nor'easter was not as intense as the Christmas Day 2002 storm just 9 days before. The National Weather Service Office in Binghamton, NY issued an initial snowfall estimate of 8-14 inches, but then had to increase that estimate three times due to the fact that the storm continued to intensify as it moved over NY. Cherry Valley, NY (Otsego County) appears to have the highest snowfall amount for the second storm in a row: 38.0 inches on top of the 39.0 that fell on Christmas.
