I chose two locations close to each other to reduce off-air time since the contest is only 4 hours long. The sites I used were two of my favorite rover sites, each used many times before, and this exact duo was used in the 2008 version of this event. Skies were clear, and with the full moon only 3 days away, there was plenty of moonlight to illuminate the area. Temperature was 47 degrees F with a north wind mixing the moisture layers, preventing any ducts from setting up.
In keeping with the "no tropo" theme that seems to persist in 2010, this was the first 2m fall sprint in the last 6 years that did not produce some sort of propagation enhancement. Here's a map showing conditions at 8:00 PM Eastern time during the sprint. This was also my lowest QSO count since 2005. But one highlight was working VE3CRU/R for new grid FN04 when I was in FN12, a goal I had set before the start. One notable station I heard while in FN12 was K8RYU EM99 which would have been a 359-mile path to the southwest. But my best actual DX toward the southwest was K8MR EN91 for a distance of 303 miles from FN22. AF1T, who was located on the island of Martha's Vinyard (FN41), was my longest distance reached to the east at 265 miles (from FN22). I did not work K4QI FM06 this year, but did manage to work into FM17 with KO4YC for my best DX to the south (335 miles) which appears to be my best DX for this contest. I did not hear any activity from FN00, 01, FN11, FN23, 24, FN30, 31, 32, 33. Missed WB2SIH, WA2SQQ FN20, KB1GMX FN42, N1JFU, WZ1V, and W2KV. Ended up with 2nd place.
