A 69 euro purchase arrived from Poland. It took 2 months to get here. I almost forgot I bought it.

First glimpse of my RF-10 low-band VHF transceiver made by Tesla Pardubice.

I got to try this thing on!

Time to dismantle the battery packs. Houston, we've had leakage here!

The radio has 4 antennas. Two whips and 2 wire antennas. The two wire antennas are still sealed in plastic bags.

One is some kind of end fed vertical antenna that is about 25 feet long.

The other wire antenna is a half rombic that is about 100 feet long. Complete with matching balun, terminating resistor and ground radials. Neat!

I did not want to buy expensive batteries since I did not know if the transceiver worked. I decided to buy a $12 dc/dc downconverter on ebay.

I now have had the radio several months and even copied CE music via TEP from Chile! The radio seems to work well so I bought NiMH batteries.

I washed off the battery acid.

Charging the batteries for the first time.

Time to eat a good breakfast before a walk on the beach and show the girls my impressive manpack.

Blew a fuse in the transceiver.

Lucky for me, the RF-10 came with fuse wire.

UPDATE - My above breakfast is a dish I created using some of my favorite ingredients. Swedish cardamom pancakes with cream of spinach. Pan fried catfish topped by an almond butter sauce with minced garlic, sweet butter, cinnamon and a little sugar. The garlic is not cooked in the sauce, but added after it is melted to give a very strong, pungent and heated crunchy taste. Sometimes I salt the dish with sea salt, mainly in the spinach.
