Other repairs and Mods to my 95 Hummer
Replacement of the forward heat shield on my 95 HMC4.
Here's the original heat shield (above) after being removed from my truck. I tried to show the extent of the crack that developed by backlighting, the crack actually travels a little farther than shown here. See the next photo where I have drawn a line to show extent of crack in Yellow.
The photo above shows the two shields side-by-side. I've drawn in Red the outline of the portion of the clamp bracket that changed between the old and new heat shields. Prior to seeing the new shield, I was figuring I would have to do something to beef up the shield to prevent this from happening again, looks like AMG was made aware of the problem and took steps to rectify it already.

8/2/2002 - Well, they might have fixed the weak spot on the one end of the shield, but the other end is now the weak link. I removed the heat shield installed above as one of the brackets fatigued and broke, causing the same rattle noise I had before. You don't get much for $100,000.00 these days. Can you tell me when you had a heat shield fail on any other vehicle and had it replaced, let alone twice in 2 years??
