23 January 2010, Nashua New Hampshire.

A bit before 11 AM, a 4 car freight headed up by PanAm’s MEC312 diesel switcher (still lettered for Guilford Rail System) pulled up to the east side of the Main Street crossing at the edge of the Dunkin Donuts parking lot on Canal Street.  According to bystanders, the crew decided to grab a quick coffee and backed the train a few feet as to not block the sidewalk.  At that point the lead truck of the locomotive jumped off the rail.

By 3:15 that afternoon it was back on the rails and dispatch decided not to send the train any further on it’s route until the next morning. The ice on the rails was blamed ;-)

Honest, it was just for coffee.  I am a customer!!

Anyone who’s anyone showed up to help/watch.

A large hydraulic jack and lots of hardwood!

This guy does know how to fix this (really).

Screw the coffee, it's “Miller Time”

… hope all this ice is gone by tomorrow…
