The names on the wall
Of the Vietnam Memorial
Are those of the warriors
Who fell on the field
Of glory.
And though they are too many
Who died too soon,
Their war an unjust war,
A quest we see as questionable
A cause we call misguided,
When I touch the wall I mourn
For the heroes.
The names on the wall
Of the Holocaust Memorial
Are those of the children
Who never aspired
To Valhalla.
How could there be so many
Without a voice?
They never dreamed of glory.
This was not war in which they fell
But global insanity.
When I touch the wall I weep
For the world.
