Row upon unending row
Stone tablets fill the field
Marking the place in history
Of fallen victims of an ancient war,
Heroes long remembered.
Row upon unyielding row
Stone faces fill the streets
Marking the place in apathy
Of walking victims of a recent war,
Heroes soon forgotten.
Row upon unknowing row
Young faces fill the schools.
They are our hope for brotherhood
Among all peoples of a weary world,
Lessons long neglected.
