Where do we go to read a little sci-fi,
Wear a funky costume, sing a filky song?
And where do we go to feel a little normal,
Weekends when the world goes wrong?
Convention, convention -- Sci Convention!
Convention, convention -- Fi Convention!
Where is science fiction's home away from home,
Both near to home and far from home?
Where are we on weekends when we're not at home,
Perusing dealer rooms for one more book?
Convention, convention -- Sci Convention!
Convention, convention -- Fi Convention!
At six I started Asimov, at ten read Arthur Clarke.
I'm into Robert Heinlein now; I grok him better.
Convention, convention -- Sci Convention!
Convention, convention -- Fi Convention!
And when we leave the con, and go back to mundane,
We hope we won't be going totally insane.
Convention, convention -- Sci Convention!
Convention, convention -- Fi Convention!
Spoken (Tevye-esque): Because of our conventions, we've kept our balance for many years. Without our conventions, life would be as shaky as ... as ... well, you get the idea.
Return to Deja Vu Once More
