my granfathers name was
albert william wheeler
a c.p.o in the navy boats and subs
and also tookcare of the electrics on the boats and subs
he served in sevral ships n subs traveled most of the asian and far east seas and i have a lot of pics to be posted so watch this space for more pics added

he was also a p.o torpedo gunner mate
before that he done since 1932 till 53-55 on subs
presented the georges cross medal in 3 aug 56
he was was disgharged for his outstanding service in 1963
his days at sea all started in 31 aug 1935 where he first done the subs around asia before going into full battle he survived all this and died a few years ago in the mid 90 s
remarks taken from his discharge record said that he has served for much of his time in subs and has a very good knowladge of submarine electrical work
he later went on to work in the atomic reserch centre in aldermaston hampshire where where he worked till he retired

sadly i only met him twice as he was a really old man and not keeping well just before he died
my mum never seen him for 50 years he was presumed dead at war
but miricals can happen and we were glad to meet him before the end
just wish id met him years ago he could have learned me alot he also loved his radio sw bands
