On June 23, 2004 a tornado caused major damage to Montello, WI. Storm chaser KB9JJD shot video of the event while not busy radioing storm reports. Image content is the property of the Marquette Coalition. Reproduction without permission is prohibited.

Dedicated amateur radio weather spotters were on the job in 2004. Running severe weather nets on the Coalition net frequency of 146.430 mhz. On three or more occasions reporting to the weather office, storms with damaging winds in excess of 50 mph when no watch or warning had yet been issued. The 'coup de grace' came on June 23 when on the coalition weather net a storm chaser reported the wall cloud on its way to Montello and tracked tornado damage to Montello.
