It was back to the routine of Jimmy, Liam and myself heading for the hills when Marianne was in bed sleeping off a night-shift.  It was our first weekend after the first week back at school, after our memorable summer of the Pennine Way and the Welsh Borders completion.  It was a beautiful day, and shorts, shirt sleeves and sunhats were all in order.

We parked as far south as we could reasonably get on the cul-de-sac road through Thorpe village, and climbed up the bridleway from there.  Once at the top of the bridleway, it is a matter of map and compass work to navigate across the heather to the summit, which we did after an energy-sapping plod.  A good radio activation was enjoyed, after which we drove on to Rombalds Moor G/NP-028 for our second of the day.  Many thanks to the following stations, all worked on 2m FM with 2.5 watts, except for the final entry, which was 70cm FM with 0.5 watts:
