Old frequency range: Ham Bands only.
New frequency range:
130.000 -> 169.995
340.000 -> 379.990 (!) Weird!
420.000 -> 469.975
870.000 -> 889.995 (!!!) Wow! This is surprising.
DISCLAIMER: This is pretty easy to do, but if you haven't opened a radio up ever you might
want to have someone else do it.
1. Open the top cover of your radio
2. On the left hand side in very front of the radio where bezel neet front of chassie.
[Obviously they did not use a spell-checker!]
3. There is a yellow wire looped arround a blue condenser. [Capacitor]
4. Clip the wire and [I removed it, if you leave there be sure to tape the ends so
nothing shorts when the radio is bounced around.]
5. Put the radio in reset mode. [See comment first below!]
Press and hold the F and the VFO/M key at the same time and turn off the
POWER SWITCH and then turn on the POWER SWITCH again.
[You will lose all of your memories. Write them down first.]
That's it. I could have cleaned up their text a bit--I know. But, I wanted it to remain
in it's original form so I wouldn't accidentaly change the meaning.
OK, you probably know this already but just in case:
The radio will also TX out of band BUT is not type accepted for that purpose.
Even if you are authorized to transmit on GMRS (for example) it is *NOT* legal!
In this case I would get a commercial radio which can legally transmit on the ham
bands as well. '73 and good luck!
